TIPS ON A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Everybody must have a certain plan, project or work that needed to be done. Maybe it's personal, maybe it's not. Nevertheless, we would always want our plans to go smoothly, right?

Here are some of the tips which I would like to share, in hopes that it will benefit us all, inshaaAllah to ensure our work or project will become a success:

1) Have pure intentions

Every project, every work, and even every movement that we make, will never be without a purpose. We eat to fill, we sleep to rest, we also breathe to live. Ask yourself, why do you participate in this project? Why are you here? Why did you make the decision to sacrifice most of your time, money and sweat in this work?

Some might answer-it's for the money/fame/title/etc. But, thinking back, was it all worth it, if it's just for the money? Were all the sleepless nights making drafts/notes paid off with just a little fame in this life? Was the project even worth the time if it was done without a concrete purpose/intention?

It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu'minin, Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab (ra) who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allah s.a.w say: "Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated." [Bukhari &muslim]

Yes, if you worked for money-money will come to you. If you worked for fame-fame might as well reach you. But in the end, was it all worth it? Will your money bring you a better ending in paradise? Will the benefits of this world, bring you even the slightest glimpse of jannah?

Thus, keeping our intentions right by solely directing our efforts for the Almighty alone is enough, as you will reach Him, and the rest will unravel itself along the way, inshaaAllah.

2) Seek guidance

There will be times when you are unsure on how to solve a problem, or come to a dead end in reaching for a solution. In times like these, people tend to be worried, restless, and uneasy. These negative feelings will further block your capability to create a way out. The best way to prevent this 'black hole' is to come back to your Creator. Return, and pray.

It is said in the AlQuran:

"And conceal your speech or publicise it, indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breast. Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?"
Surah AlMulk, 13-14

He will surely know your worries. He will surely hear your prayers. Ask from Him, and He will guide you through.

3) Do research

Before committing yourself into a project/work, make sure you do a thorough research upon the matter/subject first. With a clear view of the backgrounds, it will boost your confidence to pursue deeper into it and also makes it easier to solve any problems that might occur in the middle of your efforts in the particular area.

4) Set achievable goals

Yes, dream high-but make sure it is still within your own reach. It is unreasonable to expect a child to drive himself to school. But, he could learn how to ride a bike and cycle to school first, right? Then, when the child reaches a certain age, he could learn how to drive-and only then can he drive to anywhere that he wants to.

The same principle goes in setting goals. At first, set goals which you are able to achieve in your current state. As yourself progress, your abilities improve and you can set your goals higher and higher. This way will prevent you from regretting your choice too soon due to your own lack of ability to fulfill your 'amazing' goals. But, always remember to reset your goals for a greater one each time you had fulfilled the last one-keep on improving yourself for the better!

5) Trust yourself, keep a positive mind

Keep yourself motivated. Prevent yourself from saying or even thinking about losing, quitting, or failing. Remind yourself, 'I can do this!' as often as you can, and replace phrases such as 'I can't do this, this is too hard' to 'I think I can do this, maybe I am actually good at it'. Those are just examples, and these positive words will subconsciously seep into your mind and make your attitude towards your work/project better. A positive mind will also create a level of confidence in yourself. Of course, with confidence-you can achieve anything, inshaaAllah.

6) Trust in Allah

Last but not least, after you had done your best- just leave the rest to Allah. We might have our own plans, our own goals. But maybe, just maybe... Allah sets for us a better plan, and a better goal. So don't be too discouraged when you failed the first time. Don't give up on the first try. Keep on doing your best, keep on praying, and keep on hoping for the best. For Allah always know what's best for us.

I sincerely hope that these tips might help someone, sometime. I leave the rest to Allah.

Wallahua'lam.
