Teacup Bookmark

Assalamualaikum wrt

For this session I present to you – a teacup bookmark, with a hanging tea tag! for anyone who enjoys a good cup of tea. And a good book. At the same time.
So I’m going to share how I make this teacup bookmark, inspired by genuinemudpie.com

It may look like there are lots of steps, but it’s actually a pretty quick project. It took me less than an hour to make it.

So! It’s time to take out the glue and scissors!

… and a bunch of other stuffs..

* Used gift bags
* Cotton thread
* A glue stick
* A marker (or pen)
* Scissors
* A utility knife
* a cellophane tape
* A ruler

1. First, cut out a template. It might be easier to cut out the part inside the teacup handle with a utility knife.

2. Next, trace the template on a part of the bag with the pattern that you liked.

3. Then cut along the top edge of the teacup, and the general area around the teacup through BOTH layers of the bag. So now we have two pieces.

4. Cut a piece of cotton thread, about 5 inches in length.

5. Tie a knot close to one end of the thread. Then I put the end of the thread with the knot on the back of the piece that doesn’t have the teacup tracing on it.

6. Then I cut out a scrap piece of paper about 1/2 inch tall and 1 inch wide and place cellophane tape

So the thread is now locked in and won’t get pulled out easily.

Ta-da! We’re almost done!

Now for the tea tag. One could do lots with it, like write a message, or just leave it blank. But here’s what I made…

7. Cut out 1″x2″ rectangle the folded side of the bag that you removed earlier, then fold it into half, with the white side facing out.

8. Cut out love shaped or other shape on one half with the utility knife or u just can do some tea leaves

9. Then use a tapestry needle to poke a hole through the middle of the fold.

10. Put the end of the thread (with the other end already attached to the teacup) through the hole. then slather a generous amount of glue with the glue stick on the half of the paper with the love design. Place the thread end on middle fold of the paper, so it lies along the fold, then put cellophane tape

Fold the top down and… ta-da! A one-of-a-kind paper-cut tea tag!

And guess what? Alhamdulillah the bookmark is ready to mark those pages! :D

So you can give this bookmark to your beloved murabbi or mutarabbi! And don't forget to put some motivational sayings or ayyah from Quran. InshaAllah, it will make them smile and happy. Let's DIY!

"The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you"
